The sales of PlayStation consoles outweigh those of Nintendo Switch for the first time in almost three years

As hard as it is to believe, the Nintendo Switch has been the best-selling console in the United States for 33 consecutive months, but that streak finally came to an end in September. According to NPD Piscatella, the PlayStation 5 was the best-selling system in the region for the first time since its launch last November. Last month ended an incredible exhibition for Nintendo and brand The first time a PlayStation system was at the top since November 2018, when PS4 was the Sales Success of the region. PS5 is the most sold video game system in general for 2021 in dollars, while Switch has been the best sold in units sold.

Readers should take into account that NPD only monitors numbers in the US. UU., So these numbers do not take into account global sales figures. The best-selling game of the month in the region was once again Madden NFL 22 . The exclusive game of Nintendo Switch WarioWare: Get it together! Debuted in September, appearing as the second best-selling switch game of the month and the 15th game best sold in general. Piscatella points out that this is the largest debut that the franchise has ever seen. Tals of Arise Similarly, had a record debut for its franchise, appearing as the fourth best selling September game.

It is difficult to exaggerate the impressive achievement that has been the race for Nintendo! During the previous generation of consoles, Wii U desperately fought to find an audience. Switch has been a great success story for the company, and software sales have also reflected it, with titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and animal Crossing: New Horizons running incredibly well. It will be interesting to see how October s hardware sales are compared: it is very possible that PlayStation continues with its momentum, but the launch of Nintendo Switch OLED could also help Nintendo recover its place at the top. For now, we will only have to wait and see!
