The racing game specialists of Codemasters currently have two hot iron in the fire with DIRT 5 and F1 2021. In addition, Grid Legends has a further heavyweight in development and should be published in 2022.

Since Codemasters Cheshire last cared for the development of Dirt 5, a new offshoot of the Dirt main series seems quite in the field of possible.

In the past, Dirt 5 Lead Designer Mike Moreton commented on the future of the Dirt brand as well as the different approaches to the main series and Dirt Rally offshoot:

DiRT vs DiRT 2 vs DiRT 3 vs DiRT Showdown vs DiRT Rally vs DiRT 4 - Gameplay Comparasion (HD)

For us, Dirt Rally stands for ambitious gaming, at which concentration is in the foreground and focus, exercise and skill determining. Dirt 5 is more of a relaxed gaming. We want to have fun players of all playing strengths and deal with our game. We are very pleased about our variety of driving aids and options to ensure that hardcore players find some challenges, while casual players can continue to have fantastic experience with the game. In the future, we want the Dirt games to develop their own identity and distinguish themselves from the Dirt Rally franchise.
